Don't be fooled. Not everything is actually on sale as it is advertised. I am a regular SM shopper. I discovered the trick. A week before the sale they mark up the goods. You end up buying the item a bit more expensive than their regular prices. Here are a few examples: Curtains - regular price P399, come weekend sale they will put P700 before Now P400. Simple math you paid P1.00 more than the regular price Tshirts - regular price P325, come weekend sale the white tag is P699.95 with a sale tag (regularly yellow) saying it's 50% off now at P349.95. Again your paid P24.98 more than the regular price. Sandugo Flipflops - regular price P350. Revised tag during the sales weekend is P449.95 and the salesperson will tell you "20% off pa po 'yan so P359.96 na lang" weh...P350 lang yan last week. So don't be fooled. Be a wise buyer 'wag masyadong kakagat. Mahirap kumita kaya maging mabusisi sa mga presyo ng binibili ;)
Some of your observations may be correct, I cannot validate.
On my personal observation, businesses in general may take this sale opportunity when they are about to increase their prices moving onwards; specially during changing seasons. But more often than not, most are really on sale.
What I do is, during non-sale days, when I do window shopping, I already take note of what to buy in the future and what are their prices. So come sale, I go and buy, and know I am not being fooled because I remember their real prices. :) I don't buy the brands you mentioned above, but so far, my sale experiences in malls were favorable, SM or not.

I love sale that’s why this was an exactly I find it. Unfortunately, this sale was finished already but I am hoping that next month they have again a sale and most especially on clothes. I like to visit and shopping this mall someday. Keep on sharing.
